Mariposa County’s Five Library Branches Share Regional Book Access Through ValleyCat

MARIPOSA — November 2, 2026. Mariposa County’s library network operates a main branch in Mariposa and smaller branches in Yosemite Village, Wawona, El Portal and Coulterville, with materials searchable in the ValleyCat catalog.

Why ValleyCat matters

The county is part of the San Joaquin Valley Library System consortium, allowing patrons to search collections, place holds and manage accounts through a regional catalog. Delivery times and eligibility for a particular item may vary.

Not every branch has daily staffing

The Wawona branch lists Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday hours outside its summer expanded schedule, and the El Portal branch opens Tuesday and Thursday. The Yosemite Village branch opens two days a week.

Plan a pickup

Residents living outside Mariposa town should check the nearest staffed hours and hold status before making a mountain drive. The county lists 209-966-2140 for library-system questions and maintains an official list of all five locations.
